Talking to the new CEO for eFaqt: Timon Rutten

Timon Rutten has been named the new CEO of eFaqt. Along with founder Christiaan Henny he will be contributing to something really useful: A service that helps pupils and students to get the most out of themselves. Timon is and entrepreneur through and through, having descended from a family of entrepreneurs. Always looking for new developments and innovation. Passion, combined with ambition: A good addition for eFaqt.

How did it all begin?
"I studied Technical physics at the Technical University of Eindhoven. However, enterprise is in my blood and it always stayed in the back of my mind ". Timon became a consultant at McKinsey & Company, with the aim to improve as an entrepreneur. He mastered the intricacies of the corporate world and in 2009 he used his knowledge and experience to set up International Bike Group, together with a partner. Intrigued by the large market and strong fragmentation, they went to work.

And with success
"Yes, indeed. The very successful fietswinkel.nl was born, a part of IBG. The company went through a period of huge growth, turnover increased from less than 2 million to nearly 40 million per year. A growing and thriving organization often involves a formation of hierarchical layers within that company." For Timon that was a signal to start something new, something which included more pioneering and less managing. The result is this position at eFaqt, where he uses his versatile knowledge and experience to help the company grow even further.

Why eFaqt?
"I believe wholeheartedly in eFaqt. It is a subject that appeals to me: This is really contributing to something that is helpful. I want to make money with a concept I intrinsically support. Education is extremely important worldwide. Education is not always a sexy subject, but the shift to the online world and e-commerce is cause for excitement."

How do you and Chris complement each other?
"Christiaan has a creative mind and works without a set plan. That is the opposite of my personality and style of work: more tranquility, structure and a need for analysis and reporting,"

That seems a like a foundation for a fruitful collaboration...
"That is certainly true. I see our cooperation as promising and we are both very happy with it. We get along well with each other, despite the differences. We complete each other, but also strengthen each other, and we are both driven to achieve commercial success."

Let’s get back to you
"I was born and raised in Brabant. I’ve been living in Amsterdam for 12 years and I recently became a father. I'm competitive, so in my free time I enjoy sport activities; cycling, rowing and skiing."
